Florence Welch has revealed that she broke her foot after jumping off of a stage at Coachella.

The 28-year-old singer who fronts Florence And The Machine was performing at the Californian music festival when the accident happened.

Welch took to Instagram to explain the injury in a lengthy post alongside an X-ray image of her foot.

“I'm so sorry to say, that after what was one of my favourite shows ever at Coachella, I have discovered I have broken my foot from leaping off the stage,” she wrote.

She explained that the accident has resulted in the stripping back of her upcoming performance.

“I'm so sorry, I'm pretty devastated, but I still want to do the shows,” she posted.

“I understand this is not what you were expecting, but I hope it’s just as enjoyable. I'm going to try and make it super special for you.”

Fans need not fear as the Dog Days singer said she will be back on her feet come June when she will head to Worthy Farm to perform at Glastonbury Festival for the first time since 2010.

She finished: “By the time Glastonbury rolls around I should be back on my feet. This album was so much about making something from what was broken, so let’s see what we can do with this.”

Florence and the Machine were among more than 70 acts, including Patti Smith and Pharrell, who were last night announced to perform at Glastonbury later this year.
