Game of Thrones fans launched an online tirade at Alfie Allen after he dropped a critical show spoiler on Instagram.

The English actor, who plays Theon Greyjoy, met a heroic end during the latest episode of the HBO hit show.

Paying tribute to his character, Allen shared a picture of a teary-eyed Theon with a kiss-face, broken heart and strong muscle emoji, hinting at his departure.

Some were quick to honour his exit, but others were not so thrilled to see a crucial spoiler on social media hours after the show aired.

One user wrote: “F***** I haven’t seen it yet!!”

“Why Theon WHY,” added another.

A third asked: “WHAT YOU [DIE]?!”

Allen is not the only show star to be targeted by angry fans after sharing a spoiler.

Sophie Turner, who plays Sansa Stark, was also met with backlash after she gave away Theon’s fate, before the main 9pm UK showing of the episode.

Sharing a picture of Allen in character, Turned captioned the post: “To Alfie and to Theon…. 'You’re a good man'.”

She was slammed for not waiting “48 hours to post,” but others jumped to her defence, telling viewers to stay off social media until they’ve caught up.

Game of Thrones is gearing up to air the remaining three episodes of the show.

Following a dramatic third instalment, fans were treated to a teaser of episode four yesterday, which appears to hint at an explosive end for Westeros. The trailer centred around a strong-willed Daenerys Targaryen, played by Emilia Clarke, who is clearly hell-bent on securing the Iron Throne.

Game of Thrones airs Mondays at 2am and 9pm on Sky Atlantic and NOW TV.
