Christopher Nolan’s Dunkirk had to be certified a 12A instead of a PG because of Harry Styles’ inadvertent on-camera swearing.

The One Direction star dropped two ‘F-bombs’ while shooting scenes, which the acclaimed director decided to leave in because he loved the ‘authenticity’.

According to Styles, his accidental swear words were the sole reason that the WWII epic had to have the higher classification.

“Chris [Nolan] makes this world that makes you react so naturally. You do not feel like you have to act that much as he makes it really instinctive,” he said on Radio One.

“And you get carried away. He makes it easy to be immersed in it.”

Speaking at the London premiere of the film, Styles hinted that Dunkirk might be his first and last acting role.

“I’ve peaked too soon, there's no place to go. I haven’t really thought about it to be honest, I loved this and I loved getting to work with everyone, maybe, maybe not,” he told Edith Bowman.

“I’m maybe one and done. I’d do this one again,” he added.

“My first day was the worst weather day we had on the whole shoot. The first day I thought ‘What am I doing, I want to be back in the studio.’”

Styles has been lauded for his performance opposite Tom Hardy, Cillian Murphy and Mark Rylance in the new film.
