The grand-daughter of Charlie Chaplin is moving from America to London to pursue her film career — a century after the screen legend made the journey in the other direction.

Carmen Chaplin, an actress turned writer and director, told the Standard she thinks the capital is a better environment for independent film-makers than Hollywood.

“I want to direct more and the movies I’ve written are not American blockbusters, so I think it will be easier to establish myself in Europe,” she said.

London-born Ms Chaplin, 34, is hunting for a home here so she can move from New York with her boyfriend.
