Liam Gallagher was left “severely upset” after a chest infection forced him to pull out of a concert mid-performance.

The former Oasis frontman told an audience in Chile that his voice was “absolutely smashed” as he performed during the Lollapalooza festival on Sunday night.

Stopping halfway through his set, Gallagher apologised to the crowd and told them that he just “cant’ sing the tunes”.

“My voice is absolutely smashed. I’m not just going to stand here all night screaming out for everybody sounding f*****g horrific”, he said. “I’m very sorry I can’t sing the tunes.”

The British star then walked off stage to a chorus of boos from disappointed fans, prompting him to turn around and say: “If you ain’t gonna have fun, I’m wasting my time.”

Gallagher later posted a statement on his Twitter account, promising to reschedule the show.

“Due to an ongoing chest infection, we had to cut the Lollapalooza Santiago show tonight short,” it read.

“Liam was diagnosed with a sinus, ear and nose infection after a European show a few weeks ago which has led to a chest infection.

“He has been continuing to perform and trying to push through it but unfortunately today he was finding it hard breathing on stage and wasn’t able to continue the set.”

It continued: “Liam is severely disappointed and upset that he couldn’t finish the show and wants to apologise to everyone who came out to see him tonight. He promises to reschedule a gig in Santiago as soon as possible.”
