Prepare to get knee deep in a new Inbetweeners film – potentially.

Greg Davies, who played headmaster Mr Gilbert in the hit comedy, has given fans hope of a third big screen instalment after shutting down talk of a fourth series.

“We’d all jump at a [another] film I’m sure, but I’m unaware at this moment there are any plans,” he told The Sun. “We had a right old run at it.”

Joking about a potential plot line he said: “Those four boys are nearly 50 now. We’re the same age, they’ve caught up to my age.

“So if they do decide to do something with it, it’ll be a very different format I guess.

“The affection that people I meet still have for that show is incredible. The enduring love for it is really exciting.”

Davies’ comments come days after the cast met up to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the first ever episode.

James Buckley, who played sex-obsessed Jay Cartwright, shared a picture of himself with Joe Thomas, Simon Bird and Blake Harrison at a restaurant.

Teasing a new series he captioned the shot: “Inbetweeners series 4 pre production meal.”

Fans went crazy at the prospect of new material, following the release of The Inbetweeners 2 in 2014.

The hit E4 show debuted in 2008 and followed Will McKenzie as he struggled to make friends with Simon Thomas, Neil Sutherland and Cartwright after being transferred to Rudge Park Comprehensive from a private school.

The series picked up 11 awards, including a BAFTA TV gong in 2010.
