It’s a tough life being a multi-millionnaire, world famous, chart-topping rapper. Sometimes you just need to get away from it all.

Jay-Z is planning to splash out £2 million on a private island in the Bahamas for him and wife Beyoncé, according to sources, so that they can holiday in peace with their 15-month-old daughter Blue Ivy.

Sources say Jay-Z, 43, has his eye on Abaco, a district in the north of Bahamas known for its blue skies and golden beaches.

“Jay’s been looking for a private island for the family,” the source told The Sun. “He's getting it partly to mark their fifth wedding anniversary but also, with Bey back in the spotlight, it's getting impossible for them to do normal things such as go to the beach with Blue [Ivy].

"A private island means they'll be able to have quality time with minimum staff and security," they added.

Jay-Z will be following in the footsteps of business tycoon Richard Branson, who owns 74-acre celebrity haunt Necker Island in the British Virgin Islands.

But where Branson spent a reported $10 million on turning the isle into a private retreat, Jay-Z’s landmass is said to have no satellite TV and poor phone reception.

Just last week, Jay-Z and Beyoncé, 31, visited Cuba to celebrate their fifth wedding anniversary, a trip which sparked controversy due to an embargo preventing US citizens from visiting the country. However, officials insisted the “cultural trip” had been approved and the couple were carrying permits.
