Jeremy Clarkson has kept up his annual tradition of raising the spirit of A-level students with inspirational tweets.

Clarkson, 57, posted an uplifting message in an attempt to encourage those who may have been left disappointed by their grades.

The motoring enthusiast told teens that despite not bagging himself the top grades, he still managed to enjoy a career that allows him to dine on truffles for breakfast.

He tweeted: “If you didn't get the right A level results, don't worry. I got a C and 2 Us, and my chef is preparing truffles for breakfast.”

To add further motivation he revealed that “they were grated onto my scrambled egg” while on a “yacht”.

Many mocked his attempts at motivation with one tweeting: “I gave up on school at 15, I am now 52 and just had an egg Mc muffin. Make of that what you will.”

Another wrote: “I didn't do A levels....and I've just woken up in a cardboard box under a bridge. See, it'll be fine!!”

It comes a year after he posted a similar message, telling teens: “If your A level results are disappointing, don't worry. I got a C and two Us, and I'm currently on a superyacht in the Med.”

Clarkson, who was this week mocked for allegedly liking pornographic videos on Twitter, has also previously told his followers that he has a Mercedes Benz and enjoys holidays in a villa in St Tropez.

Food critic Giles Coren also attempted to encourage students by taking a swipe at President Donald Trump.

He tweetd: “If you didn't get the A level results you were hoping for, just remember that the leader of the free world is a thick c*** too.”

This year saw more than one in four students score at least one A* or A grade in the first batch of results after reforms to the qualification.
