Strictly Come Dancing star Joe Sugg’s grandmother believes he is “head over heels” for pro dance partner Dianne Buswell.

Phyllis Sugg, 95, travelled to Blackpool to watch her grandson and Buswell, 29, compete in the BBC dance competition, and has claimed she noticed a romantic spark between the pair.

“I may be 95 but I could see that twinkle in his eye – and the way they looked at each other,” she told MailOnline, revealing that she had already been introduced to Sugg's potential love interest.

“He brought Dianne over to meet me too and that’s a sign that there is romance in the air.

“She seemed like a lovely girl – I think he might be head over heels.”

Sugg’s grandmother went on to reveal that the YouTube star didn’t go on the show to look for love, adding: “Sometimes these things just happen, we will have to wait and see whether he brings her here [to Lacock, Wiltshire] to meet the family.”

The dance partners were romantically linked during their time on Strictly, and appeared to finally confirm their relationship status on Sunday, when Sugg posted a picture of the pair gazing into each other’s eyes on Instagram.

“I may not have won the glitter ball, but I’ve won something a million times more special,” he wrote.

It was announced yesterday that Sugg will co-host BBC One’s New Year’s Eve concert on December 31 with Strictly champion Stacey Dooley. The vlogger, who is making his first foray into television presenting, said he was “so excited” to be working with his “fellow Strictly pal.”

Dooley and her partner Kevin Clifton were crowned the winners of series 16 on Saturday night, beating Sugg, Faye Tozer and Ashley Roberts to the glitter ball trophy.
