Madonna ‘overjoyed’ as she confirms adoption of twin girls
Madonna has revealed she is “overjoyed” after adopting twin sisters from Malawi.
The Queen of Pop, 58, confirmed the news on Instagram where she posted a picture of herself walking hand in hand with her new daughters Stella and Esther.
“I can officially confirm I have completed the process of adopting twin sisters from Malawi and am overjoyed that they are now part of our family,” she said.
“I am deeply grateful to all those in Malawi who helped make this possible, and I ask the media please to respect our privacy during this transitional time.
“Thank you also to my friends, family and my very large team for all your support and Love!”
Madonna’s Instagram post comes a day after Malawi's High Court granted her permission to adopt the four-year-old twins.
Judiciary spokesman Mlenga Mvula told Reuters: “The High Court made a ruling that she should go ahead and adopt the two children.
“In fact, at the time we were granting her the permission she was in the courtroom with her lawyers.”
Madonna adopted son David Banda back in 2008 and just one year later adopted daughter Mercy James.
She is also mother to Lourdes, 20, who she had with Carlos Leon, and Rocco Ritchie, 16, from her marriage to Guy Ritchie.
