McBusted star Tom Fletcher has warned parents to be careful about what they share on social media about their children.

When not touring with the melange of McFly and Busted, he is at home with sons Buzz, four, and Buddy, two, and wife Giovanna, 33.

He posts videos and photos of family life on Twitter— where he has 1.4 million followers — and YouTube vlogs.

His wife has a podcast on parenting featuring anecdotes about their offspring, and news of the actress’s pregnancies has gone viral.

At the weekend Fletcher, 32, announced on Instagram that the couple are expecting their third child.

But while he is proud of the family’s role in making parenting a “more open and supportive” process, he is aware there could be a downside to sharing private moments.

He said social media “has been a new evolution — we don’t really know what effects it’s going to have on our kids”.

On sharing details about their family life he said: “ It’s a balance — you have to be very mindful about it.”

The songwriter and author, whose children’s book The Christmasaurus is being filmed, lives in Ruislip and often uses the Underground.

“On the Tube you get people who recognise you but don’t know you, who think you are a friend and then you get that moment of realisation — ‘Oh wait, you’re in a band!’ — then they ask for a selfie.”

On World Book Day last week he read to pupils from his latest book, Brain Freeze.
