Paloma Faith is swapping the glamour of the awards ceremony stage for a back garden in Ealing as she starts work on her new album.

Faith, who was named best British female solo artist at the Brits last month, is set to begin writing and recording sessions with composer and producer Troy Miller.

The pair, due to start work next month, will be based at the state-of-the-art studio Miller recently built in the grounds of his west London home. Miller has been lauded for his work with Rebecca Ferguson and Laura Mvula, while Faith is wasting no time in following up her third album A Perfect Contradiction, which went double platinum.

Miller said: "I'm very eager to see what happens working with Paloma... I like her a lot. She reminded me the other day that she had phoned me a few years back to be her musical director but I said 'no' because I was working with Amy Winehouse at the time.

"I felt bad about it but I was loyal to Amy as she was very loyal to me! Now I have another chance to work with Paloma and this time I'm ready."

Miller says he prefers his home set-up to some of London's larger studios, adding: "I like to work all hours and be private. The problem with going to bigger commercial studios sometimes is that you have people snooping around and eves dropping on your work.

"Also, my studio has a homey feel and is unpretentious which artists seem to like as they don't feel under pressure."

Today Faith was also announced as the first headline act for Jamie Oliver and Alex James’s The Big Feastival in August. The event will return to Blur bassist James’s farm in the Cotswolds for the fourth year running. As well as music, the festival features a programme of demonstrations from chefs including Raymond Blanc, Ashley Palmer-Watts, Nathan Outlaw, Monica Galetti and Gennaro Contaldo.

The festival, which also hosts a range of children’s activities, takes place from August 28 to 30. Faith will perform on the final night.

Oliver said: “Feastival just gets better every year. It’s already got an incredible line-up for music fans and foodies, and I know that we’ll only add to it over the next few weeks. As usual, I can’t wait!”

James said: “I can’t wait to have everyone back to the farm. Three days of great music and delicious food, plus plenty of fun for the kids, it’s the perfect bank holiday weekend.
