Paul Hollywood has shut down speculation that he is set to host Top Gear.

The Great British Bake Off star, who recently revealed that he had a motoring show in the works, has dismissed rumours that he will replace Chris Evans.

Responding to a tweet asking whether or not he had landed the new gig on Wednesday night, Hollywood simply responded: “No.”

Rumours started circulating after the 50-year-old told Now Magazine: “I’m going to be doing more car programmes.”

His Bake Off co-star Mary Berry added: “I love doing shows that aren’t to do with baking. Paul has his cars and city breaks, but I’m not interested in travel.”

Hollywood, who was a guest on the last series of Top Gear, hosted an hour-long programme about the history of the Aston Martin last year.

Evans stepped down from the show earlier this year after the revamped series received mixed reviews from viewers and critics.

Hollywood and Berry are gearing up for the launch of the brand new series of Bake Off, which kicks off on the BBC next week.

The newly-released line-up includes contestants ranging from ages 20-67 from all walks of life.

Last year’s series of the show, which saw Nadiya Hussain crowned Bake Off champion, was the most-watched television series of the year.
