Piers Morgan has launched a scathing attack on Will Young, branding him “repulsive” after he threatened to take action against The Grand Tour.

Young, 40, accused the Amazon Prime show of homophobia after hosts Jeremy Clarkson, James May and Richard Hammond made several controversial comments during a segment on Clarkson driving a Jeep Wrangler in Colombia.

May asked: “Isn’t that a very popular car with the gay community?”

Hammond went on to list stereotypes for gay people, adding: “You should have gone the whole hog. Maybe some nice chaps, suede but ventilated at the back.

“And that [pink] shirt, you’ve picked up that colour. Have you been getting advice?”

Young branded their comments “repulsive” and “f****** pathetic and actually homophobic”.

Morgan, who has previously taken aim at the former Strictly star, tweeted: “I’d like to hit out at @willyoung’s repulsive over-reaction to absolutely everything. And his repulsive music.”

Young launched a lengthy attack on the motoring show, telling followers he would be prepared to take legal action.

He tweeted: “It’s insulting and they can’t rest on laurels of ‘oh we are just politically incorrect’ It’s sad and shaming, bigoted and for f**** sake grow up. How dare they stereotype gay men.

“I DON’T drive a Wrangler Jeep. I DON’T wear pink shirts. I DON’T wear a***less chaps. You can be honest and funny without this ridiculous ‘lad’ ooh being gay and let’s laugh about it mentality. It’s repulsive and how DARE you do it and put it out @PrimeVideo.”

He continued: “No word from @PrimeVideo so @Ofcom beckons. Enough is enough and I’m p***** and fed up [...] your time is up and it’s time to take a stand. Is there a legal case ? Who knows . ....... watch this space.”

Standard Online has contacted Amazon Prime for comment.
