Pixie Lott has revealed she often doubles up as a wedding singer.

The pop star, 26, said she gets asked to perform for friends and family on their big days — but that she likes to take to the microphone as early as possible to get it out of the way.

She told the Standard: “I’m always singing at friends’ weddings or family members’ weddings.

“I sang at my cousin’s while they were signing the register, and I sang a James Arthur song at a family friend’s wedding a couple of months ago.”

The former Voice Kids judge said she never feels nervous as she is performing for loved ones, to whom she often turns for advice on her new music.

“I don’t really feel too much pressure because it’s usually only my close friends and family who ask me and they’ve seen me perform so many times,” she said.

“But I do like to sing earlier on in the night so I can do my duty and then have fun.”

She recently surprised an unsuspecting couple in Manchester by crashing their wedding to perform an acoustic rendition of Kings of Leon’s Use Somebody.

Lott is planning to tie the knot with her long-term boyfriend, the model Oliver Cheshire, next year. The couple, who met at a fashion event in 2010, announced their engagement last November after Cheshire proposed on the steps of St Paul’s Cathedral.

Lott said that despite being terrible when it comes to organisation, she would never let Cheshire plan their nuptials.

She said: “My wedding is next year and I still haven’t made any plans. Over Christmas we’ll have some time to sit down and start the planning. I’m really excited, but I’m the least organised person in the world. I need to make it the best party I’ve ever had.”

Lott, who was speaking as she launched Shell’s #makethefuture campaign, is gearing up for the release of her fourth album, which will include her latest single Won’t Forget You, featuring Stylo G.
