Paddy McGuinness has revealed Prince Harry is such a big fan of Take Me Out that he has asked to take part.

McGuinness – who fronts the ITV dating show which sees single men choose a potential love interest from a panel of 30 women – said the young royal approached him on a night out and asked if he could go looking for love on the Isle of Fernandos.

Recalling the encounter on the BBC Radio One Breakfast Show, he told Nick Grimshaw: “We’re having something to drink in the evening and who do I bump into? Prince Harry.

He walks in the room [and] he comes straight up to me and he goes: ‘I want to be on your show – I want to go to Fernando's'.

“I was like I don’t think you need the help.”

McGuinness – who played for England in this year’s Soccer Aid – said he and his friends couldn’t believe the royal had requested an invitation to star on the Saturday night show.

“I’m a lad from Bolton and I’ve got a prince of England asking me if he can go to Fernando’s,” he said.

“It doesn’t get much better than that. All the lads had their mouths open thinking ‘what the hell happened?’.”

Take Me Out fans were delighted by the prospect of seeing a prince on the show, with many joking that they would sign up.

One user tweeted: “Well then, let me just start a GoFundMe so I can get over there and get on @takemeoutuk! Haha.”

Another posted: “I don't think he'd have many 'no likeys'.”

Prince Harry has previously spoken about the difficulty in finding a girlfriend in the public eye.

Speaking to The Sunday Times he said: "If or when I do find a girlfriend, I will do my utmost to ensure that me and her can get to the point where we're actually comfortable with each other before the massive invasion that is inevitably going to happen into her privacy.

"The other concern is that even if I talk to a girl, that person is then suddenly my wife, and people go knocking on her door."
