Reese Witherspoon dared to go where no human should.

The 42-year-old actress was caught attempting to take out Hollywood legend Meryl Streep – with an ice cream.

Witherspoon was snapped lobbing the frozen treat, complete with sauce and sprinkles, at an unsuspecting Streep.

And Witherspoon made sure everyone knew she hit her target telling a fan: “I got her!”

One Twitter user shared a picture of Witherspoon mid throw, posting: “I am praying Reese pelts Meryl with that ice cream. #BigLittleLies.”

Witherspoon replied: “Oh Matt! No need to pray. I got her!”

But don’t fear, it wasn’t an unprovoked attack. The actresses were filming scenes for the upcoming second series of Big Little Lies with Witherspoon in character as Madeline Mackenzie and Streep as Mary Louise Wright.

Fans couldn’t get enough of the image online with some photoshopping out the ice cream for a Pokemon ball while another joked: “It took Reese throwing ice cream at Meryl for us to find out if she eats it witherspoon or withoutherspoon. She's a cone gal!”

Streep’s role as the mother-in-law of Nicole Kidman’s character Celeste Wright was confirmed earlier this year.

Mary Louise will arrive in the town of Monterey looking for answers about what happened to her son Perry, played by Alexander Skarsgard.

Kidman said of the casting: “We’re determined to give her an extraordinary experience.

“She's had a lot of experiences so we just want to make it fun for her and vibrant and exciting.”

Big Little Lies series two is slated for release in 2019
