Following the evacuation of her hotel due to a fire, Rihanna took the opportunity to visit some of London's landmarks.

The singer was evacuated from the Corintha Hotel in Whitehall Place yesterday morning with 300 other guests after a fire broke out in a lift shaft, but rather than complain she went sightseeing.

An eyewitness told The Sun: "When the alarm went off she packed her laptop and jewellery and headed outside with other guests.

"But instead of waiting for the all-clear, she got a taxi to take her on a tour of Downing Street, Big Ben, Westminster Abbey and Buckingham Palace."

No one was hurt in the hotel incident, and Rihanna was able to return to her room at 7am after her impromptu tour.

The source added: "She also made time to stop for a McDonald's breakfast from Charing Cross."

The Bajan beauty shared the news of her evacuation with fans yesterday when she tweeted a picture of herself in the back of a black cab wearing a grey hoodie and sunglasses.

She posted: "Roamin da streets since 6am! Fyah in da telly #evacuationlife (sic)"

Rihanna is in London to record new material for her follow-up album to 2011's 'Talk That Talk' and also performed at BBC Radio 1's Hackney Weekend music event last weekend.
