Sophie Turner has shut down claims that she used a racial slur in an Instagram video.

The Game of Thrones actress, 21, sparked outrage after it was claimed she used the N-word in a video shared by fitness guru Brendan Fallis.

The clip, which has since been deleted, shows Fallis introducing Turner and her boyfriend Joe Jonas before she allegedly uses the offensive term.

Turner insisted she was misheard and said that she was left “incredibly upset” by the accusations.

In a statement she told Standard Online: “I used the word ‘motherf******’ in a recent video posted in an Instagram story and not a hateful racial slur that has been suggested.

“I am incredibly upset that anyone would think otherwise, and I want to make it clear that I would never use such an abhorrent word.”

Another user tweeted: “Sophie turner saying the n word so casually and Joe Jonas laughing about it really says something.”

A third posted: “Shameful! I thought she'd be better than this! Hope she'll not get anymore roles since this is a bad example to the children!”

Others jumped to her defence with one tweeting: “Listen to that Sophie Turner tape closely it's 'what's up mutha*****'. There's an odd pause w bad audio. UK folks leave US slang alone. Thnx.”
