The Stone Roses added two extra dates to their Manchester comeback gigs, taking the total to four, following an "unprecedented demand" for tickets.

The band was scheduled to play two dates at the city's Etihad Stadium in June – as well as a headline set at T in the Park.

Ticketmaster crashed after ten seconds as thousands of fans attempted to buy tickets when they went on sale at 9:30am on Friday morning.

Tickets for the original two dates – June 17 and 18 – sold out, so a third (June 19) was added. After that sold out, a fourth date was confirmed for June 15.

They are now rumoured – along with Adele – to be one of the headline acts at Glastonbury Festival 2016.

"The Stone Roses were asked to play Glasto this year, firstly instead of The Who and then as a replacement for Foo Fighters when they cancelled,” a source told The Daily Star.

"Eavis only has a couple of headline acts left on his wishlist and The Stone Roses are definitely one of them."
