Susanna Reid has said that she is single ‘by choice’ as she doesn’t have the time for a relationship.

The Good Morning Britain presenter, 46, who split from her partner of 15 years back in 2014, isn’t keen to settle down with someone else any time soon.

“I just am not [looking to date anyone]... I just can't have a relationship at the moment,” the mother-of-three told The Telegraph. “My most important thing is being a mum.

She added: “I don't think there would be time for anything else because relationships take up a lot of emotional energy, don't they?”

Last week Reid tweeted her followers to say that she wasn’t looking for a boyfriend after receiving a deluge of messages from admirers.

“Thanks for your generous offers this morning twitter but.... I'm single by choice,” she wrote on her official account.

Reid split from partner Dominic Cotton three years ago, but the pair still live together in the same house, alongside Cotton’s new girlfriend.

“I’m not saying everybody can do it [and] I definitely think people are surprised that we can do it this way,” she said at the time.

“I’m privileged to have a great relationship with my ex, to the point where we can live together comfortably and he can have a new relationship.”

Reid also urged women to be ‘kind to themselves’ in the new interview, saying:

“When you look at other pictures of women and find yourself comparing yourself to them, don't forget that they've done that as well.

"Be kind to yourself. Don't wish you looked like the girl in the magazine, because the girl in the magazine doesn't even look like the girl in the magazine.”
