Chat show reunion on the cards for Jonathan Ross and Russell Brand

The duo behind Sachsgate could be reunited on BBC1 after it emerged Russell Brand may be a guest on one of Jonathan Ross's final chat shows.

Ross was suspended for three months without pay and Brand resigned after their last BBC appearance together during a disastrous Radio 2 show.

But now Brand is being approached to appear on the Friday Night With show shortly before Ross leaves the corporation for good at the end of his contract.

The pair caused an outcry in October 2008 when Brand's pre-recorded R2 show was broadcast containing prank calls to veteran actor Andrew Sachs in which they left lewd messages.

The ensuing row led to the departure of then station controller Lesley Douglas.

Ross announced earlier this year that he was not renewing his BBC contract and he is due to end all his broadcasting commitments at the corporation in the summer.

His Friday night chat show has now begun its final run, but the BBC said today that his guest line-up had not been finalised.

A BBC spokeswoman said of a potential appearance by Brand: "This is speculation at the moment.

"His name might be one of the names on the list but the show will not be booked until much nearer the time."

Graham Norton has been appointed to take over Ross's Radio 2 show later this year and Claudia Winkleman will step in for his Film 2010 series.
