Dr Who star Karen Gillan looks a little bemused as she comes face to face with a five-inch version of her character Amy Pond.

Gillan, 22, was pictured with the figure ahead of an event for fans of the sci-fi show at toy store Hamleys.

The Scottish actress will travel to Glasgow at the end of the month to take part in a signing session at the company's flagship store.

Amy Pond is the sidekick of the 11th Timelord played by Matt Smith.

Filming has already begun on the Christmas special of the popular BBC show, which will feature opera singer Katherine Jenkins and veteran actor Michael Gambon.

Talking about the visit, Gillan said: "I'm so excited to be travelling up to Scotland to introduce fans to my new Amy Pond action figure, I can't wait to meet everyone."

The actress will meet fans at Hamleys in the St Enoch Centre on August 28.
