This is the terrifying moment a train smashes into a van in Emmerdale - leaving the life of one man hanging in the balance.

Disaster strikes in the rural soap this autumn after young lovers Aaron Livesy, played by Danny Miller, and Jackson Walsh (Marc Silcock) go out on the town with best friends Paddy Kirk (Dominic Brunt) and Marlon Dingle (Mark Charnock).

Later that night, one of the four finds his life in grave peril when he crashes on to the railway tracks.

Before the dazed driver has the chance to get away, an approaching train careers into the upturned vehicle.

Soap bosses remain tight-lipped about which man gets hurt in the horrifying crash.

An Emmerdale spokesman said: "This is an incredibly dramatic episode and is the start of one of the most emotional stories we'll ever tell.

"In a tragic turn of events, it will bring together four of our most cherished characters for a gripping and poignant hour-long special which will leave viewers with their hearts in their mouths."
