Smiling and joking together, the members of ABBA relax by a pond in a park near Stockholm.

This candid shot, from 1977, is one of a series of never-before-seen photographs released to coincide with the first authorised photographic biography of the band.

ABBA – The Official Photo Book will be launched on Monday night, with a party for 1,500 guests at Tate Modern. Ulvaeus and Lyngstad are both expected to attend the event, which is being held the day after the 40th anniversary of their Eurovision Song Contest victory in Brighton, on April 6, 1974. Organisers say it “is likely to be the world’s largest ABBA disco”. The book features new, rare, and unseen photographs.

ABBA — The Official Photo Book is available now at £35.
