Molly-Mae Hague said she didn’t put pressure on herself to immediately connect with her newborn daughter as she detailed her mother’s experience of postnatal depression.

The former Love Islander, 23, welcomed her daughter, Bambi, on January 23 with boyfriend Tommy Fury but publicly announced her birth a week later on Instagram.

In her latest YouTube vlog, the PrettyLittleThing creative director explained that she didn’t want to put an expectation on herself to immediately feel “besotted and infatuated” with her baby due to the fact her mother had struggled postnatally.

At the beginning of the video, Hague could be seen cradling little Bambi before bursting into tears, telling the camera: “This is me just crying all of the time, so emotional.”

She shared: “When I was pregnant, I didn’t put pressure on myself to, the minute she was born, to feel this undying, crazy, magical love that everyone talks about because sometimes that doesn’t come straight away.

“So, I didn’t put pressure on myself.”

Adding: “And also, something I’ve never really spoken about before is that my mum actually suffered really horrendously with postnatal depression with both my sister and I.

“It was something I was always very cautious about and I didn’t want to put this huge pressure on myself to give birth to Bambi and be literally besotted and infatuated.”

Despite her fears, Hague tearfully admitted she felt “connected” with her newborn from the offset and said there’s “nothing on this planet she wouldn’t do for her”.

She shared: “The minute she was born, I have just connected with her on a whole other level.

“The love I feel for that baby, I will get emotional talking about and I don’t want to be that annoying new mum but... oh my gosh.

“When I look at her, the only way I can describe it is there is literally nothing on this planet I wouldn’t do for her. I would literally take a bullet for her.”
