He is worth more than £100 million, but it appears Rod Stewart still keeps a very firm grip on his purse strings.
The rocker was spotted thoroughly scrutinizing his receipt after a shopping spree in Sydney's Queen Victoria Building today, where he picked up a model plane and space shuttle for son Alastair, as well as a pair of sneakers for himself.

The Maggie May singer has developed a reputation for being rather frugal with his wealth throughout his career, although recently revealed he is irritated by the claim.
Asked by Psychologies magazine last year what misconceptions of him persist, Rod replied: "One, that I'm tight. Two, that I'm 5ft 7in, which annoys me."
