Naomi Campbell: My friend the PM's wife

Naomi Campbell has spoken for the first time about her close relationship with Sarah Brown.

The supermodel described the prime minister's wife as a "very smart and intelligent woman".

Campbell, 39, first met Mrs Brown two years ago and has since worked with women and children's charity the White Ribbon Alliance, of which Mrs Brown is a patron.

They have teamed up again to organise a charity catwalk show in aid of Haiti earthquake victims.

Campbell said: "Two years ago I got a phone call from Sarah asking for a meeting as she knew about the charity work I did. I was really surprised. She told me about the White Ribbon Alliance.

"Immediately I said yes. We got to be friends, and we speak a lot on the phone and try to meet up when we can. I respect her. She's a very smart and intelligent woman and I have learned a lot from her."

The Fashion For Relief catwalk show, on 18 February at Somerset House, will be open to the public.

The line-up will be a secret but the model said: "It will be full of people you know - reality stars, actors, sports personalities and singers."
