She became a household name playing Lady Cora, in the hit drama Downton Abbey.

And for her latest role actress Elizabeth McGovern has stepped back in time (again) to play the lady of a manor house... having trouble with her daughters.

The American was joined by co-stars Felicity Jones and Zoe Tapper for the gala screening of period comedy/drama Cheerful Weather for the Wedding.

But determined to enjoy a little time in the 21st Century she wore a thoroughly modern shimmering silver dress.

Also attending the screening at the Empire Leicester Square was the director Donald Rice who brought along his father musical impresario Sir Tim Rice.

The film, set in 1932 and based on Julia Strachey's novel, follows a young bride on her wedding day who must decide if she wants to go ahead with the ceremony... or run away with a former lover to Argentina.
