Fashion designer Marc Jacobs has become the latest celebrity to enter rehab.

The 43-year-old, who is currently artistic director for Louis Vuitton, checked himself into a clinic in Arizona for drug and alcohol abuse.

It comes eight years after the American was treated in rehab for the same problem as an inpatient, and follows in the footsteps of recent sufferers Britney Spears, Robbie Williams and Lindsay Lohan.

His business partner Robert Duffy said: "Marc made the right decision.

He'd been sober for seven years. When he relapsed, he wanted to deal with it right away.

"According to the experts, such a relapse isn't uncommon. Thankfully, Marc recognised the problem himself and chose to deal with it. Obviously, our prayers are with him."

Before his first stint in rehab, Jacobs was reportedly taking heroin and cocaine. The designer's relapse comes after a hectic season in which he put on shows in New York, London and Paris.

He has also been nominated for two prestigious awards from the Council of Fashion Designers of America for his womenswear and accessories.

Jacobs's first session in rehab in 1999 came after he opened up a series of new

Marc Jacobs stores across America. Celebrities including Rod

Stewart Joss Stone, and Debbie Harry are all fans of Marc Jacobs, and have been seen in the audience at his shows.

His latest collections features a 1920s influence, which fashion experts predict will lead to shops being full of copycat dresses this year.
