Rolling Stone Ronnie Wood has told how he and his wife Sally Humphreys are so happy together that even his ex-wife says they should have got together sooner.
But the 66-year-old guitarist admitted theatre producer Humphreys, who at 35 is more than three decades his junior, does sometimes get mistaken for his daughter.
The couple were friends for almost a decade before they began dating last year, marrying nine months later at the Dorchester Hotel with Rod Stewart and Sir Paul McCartney as best men.
Wood told Hello! magazine: “Even my ex-wife Jo has said to me, ‘I don’t know why you didn’t get with Sally a long time ago.’” He added: “Once in a while, she gets mistaken for my daughter.” Humphreys said: “We were getting off a plane just recently and someone said loudly, ‘Oh my God, it’s Keith Richards.’ Then, to make it worse, they asked, ‘Are you his daughter?’ I was thinking, ‘Please, just stop talking.’
“But that is the age gap, so it isn’t unreasonable for someone to think that. It seems to bother other people more than it bothers us, and then you have to remember that you don’t know those people because the people who do know us don’t flinch about it.”
She wishes her husband was younger — so they could spend more time together.
She said: “Do I wish Ronnie was younger? Yes, but only from the point of view that you can’t go on forever so it’s about the amount of time we’ll have together. But it is what it is, and honestly maybe it’s the old-soul-young-soul thing, but we don’t notice it.”
