She has a string of failed romances behind her, but Sian Lloyd has put all of them behind her by marrying her multi-millionaire fiance.

The weather presenter and motor-racing boss Jonathan Ashman, 59, secretly tied the knot after a ten-month romance.

The service was held in both English and Welsh in the tiny chapel at the Welsh resort of Portmeirion on Sunday. Just seven of the couple's closest friends were present.

Hotel guests spotted Sian afterwards in a white dress, covered by a fur-trimmed coat lined with gold silk.

The ITV presenter's spokesman, Stifyn Parri, said details of the honeymoon were being kept secret.

Her mother, Barbara, 74, was too ill to attend the ceremony but she said she was delighted that her 49-year-old daughter had finally found the right man.

Mrs Lloyd, a retired teacher from Neath, south Wales, said: "She's very happy.

"I think they're made for each other and I'm very happy for them. Jonathan's a lovely man."

The wedding marks the end of a difficult 12 months for Sian, who had previously dated aristocratic businessman Mark Cavendish and ITV cameraman Greg Taylor.

In December 2006, she split up with her then fiance, Liberal Democrat MP Lembit Opik.

Just weeks later, it was revealed that Mr Opik was dating 25-year-old Cheeky Girls singer Gabriela Irimia.

Mrs Lloyd added: "Last year was so awful for Sian after everything that happened but I'm just very pleased for her now."

Even Mr Opik wished the couple all the best, but he added: "I hope this means she can get on with her life.

"I do feel she has been rather mean to me and Gabriela during the last 12 months."
