Stars set for Super premiere
Superman will touch down in Leicester Square tonight for the UK premiere of the new film.
The previously unknown Brandon Routh, who plays the Man of Steel, will make an appearance with fellow US star Kate Bosworth (Lois Lane).
Superman Returns stays faithful to the popular 1978 epic starring Christopher Reeve.
It sees the caped crusader return to earth after a long absence in which he has been searching the cosmos to discover what happened to planet Krypton.
But Clark Kent's journalist love Lois Lane has now moved on and has a child in the big-budget, "touch-feely" film.
London theatre director and movie star Kevin Spacey plays the role made famous by Gene Hackman, the movie's evil Lex Luthor.
While promoting the film yesterday, Routh said that he had not been daunted by the Superman legend when he took on the role.
He said: "I was aware of the great legacy, not only of Superman, but also of Christopher Reeve. He's the one that made me love Superman, watching him perform."
But he added: "You have to try to imagine what it's like to be the most powerful person on earth and there's no room for fear in that."
