Advocaat turns down the Dutch

Rangers director of football Dick Advocaat today confirmed he has rejected the chance to coach Holland again.

Advocaat, who guided them to the 1994 World Cup finals in the United States, was wanted as the replacement for Louis van Gaal.

But Advocaat, who switched roles after Alex McLeish took charge of the Rangers team, said: "They were determined to make me their new manager and there are plenty of Dutch coaches who will never receive that invitation.

"But I think Alex McLeish, the chairman and I can make the system work at Rangers."
