‘Anichebe’s goals can end hoodoo’

David Moyes believes Everton are ready to break their top-four duck in the climax to the season.

Everton have never won a League game at Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool or Manchester United under Moyes but the Scotsman is confident his side can pick up results in their fixtures at the Emirates, Anfield and Stamford Bridge.

The 49-year-old’s side are still in contention for Champions League qualification and they travel to Arsenal tonight determined to extend their five-match unbeaten League run.

“I think the squad are in good order, they have gained confidence from their results and the way they are playing,” said Moyes.

“This time of the season the games are hard because everyone needs the points for different reasons. We have some momentum but we’ve got some hard games coming up so we have to be ready for that but hopefully the bit of confidence we’ve got will help us.”

Nikica Jelavic is yet to score this year and Moyes needs striker Victor Anichebe to continue his form of six goals in 13 starts.

“He has been terrific,” said Moyes. “The boy has an awful lot going for him and I’ve said many times he’s just needed to have a bit more self-confidence. We just want him to keep playing the way he is doing. He is helping us at the moment and gives us an alternative.”

Everton have a full squad to choose from despite Saturday’s bruising victory over Queens Park Rangers at Goodison Park.
