Arsenal close to £12m deal for France star Nasri

Marseille midfielder Samir Nasri was expected to arrive in London today for his medical ahead of completing a £12million four-year deal with Arsenal.

The 20-year-old could head a new intake of French talent at Emirates Stadium. Clement Chantome, another midfielder with Paris Saint Germain, is understood to have already met Arsene Wenger while Laval teenager Francis Coquelin is also close to a contract after impressing while on trial with the Gunners.

Fulham have signed Middlesbrough goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer, who confirmed his two-year deal today ahead of Australia's friendly with Ghana in Sydney.

Schwarzer, 35, said: "It was important to sort it out sooner rather than later. I had a few options but felt this was the best."
