Axed Cooke may face exit from Hull Kingston Rovers

13 April 2012

Paul Cooke has been left out of the Hull KR squad again for tomorrow night's engage Super League game athometo Catalans Dragons.

The move fuels speculation that Cooke is on his way out of Craven Park only 15 months after joining Rovers from arch-rivals Hull FC in a controversial switch.

Cooke: Controversy

The 27-year-old stand-off, suspended for the opening six games this season after the RFL ruled he made an illegal approach to Rovers while still under contract at Hull, was reportedly sent home from training in the build-up to the recent Humberside derby.

He was dropped by Rovers coach Justin Morgan, who refused to rule out the possibility that Cooke would not play for the club again.

Wakefield and Salford, who are coached by former Hull FC coaches John Kear and Shaun McRae respectively, have said they would be interested in signing Cooke.

Neither club will make a move before September 1's 'anti-tampering' deadline unless Rovers act first. New Zealand hooker David Faiumu is hoping to make his Super League debut for Huddersfield at Castleford on Sunday after winning his prolonged clearance battle having signed from North Queensland Cowboys.
