Michael Laudrup ignored overtures from Paris Saint-Germain, Monaco and Fenerbahce during the summer to stay at Swansea.

The club’s League form and Capital One Cup success last season enhanced the Dane’s reputation and speculation that he might leave increased when Swansea cut ties with Laudrup’s agent, Bayram Tutumlu, after a row over transfers.

Laudrup, in Holland for a pre-season training camp, said: “Yes, there were clubs — a couple of big ones as well — who wanted me, but it never became anything.

“As I said many times, I wanted to stay and I told players the same when they asked me before they extended their contracts. I don’t want to run away from that.

“I didn’t have to speak to anyone because I want to stay here. But I have been with Bayram for so many years and I will continue being with him.”
