Blair: Olympic bid just gets better

14 April 2012

Tony Blair says London's 2012 Olympic bid chances are getting "better and better".

The Prime Minister reiterated his backing for the capital's bid to stage the Olympics at a reception last night to honour the country's Olympians and Paralympians who competed in the Athens Games.

He said the bid's chances of success were getting "better and better each time people evaluated it," adding: "It would be fantastic to have part of the Olympic Games here and in venues all over the UK. It would be wonderful for this country and a wonderful tribute for sport."

Those in attendance at the event included track star Kelly Holmes, rower Matthew Pinsent and marathon runner Paula Radcliffe (above, with the Prime Minister).
