Brown to leave Giants post

Huddersfield have confirmed that head coach Nathan Brown will leave the club at the end of the season and return to Australia for family reasons.

The 36-year-old Brown, who was Engage Super League coach of the year in 2009, has been dropping hints in recent weeks about cutting short his stay in England, and the speculation reached fever pitch after the Giants were thrashed 60-4 by Warrington in the Challenge Cup at the weekend.

Brown, who was contracted to the end of the 2011 season but had been linked with moves to Cronulla and South Sydney, said: "It's purely a family decision that I have had to make to go home at the end of this year."

He added: "Despite what's been written by some, I don't have a job to go to nor have I even spoken to anyone back home about employment - this decision is not about my professional life, it's about my family's life.

"To say I have enjoyed my time here - and will continue to do so - is an understatement.

"It's been great for us but I just have to make this decision now for the benefit of everyone as the continued and relentless media speculation has been good for no one.

"I will continue to give my absolute best to the club in every aspect of the job until the year end and assist them in going forward in the future in any way I can.

"Wherever I end up, I will always look for the Giants results in the UK and be rooting for them."
