Bulls set sights on Warrington

12 April 2012

Bradford issued a warning to their Grand Final rivals that they will not relinquish their Super League trophy without a fight.

The defending champions hit form to blitz play-off debutants Salford 52-6 at Odsal and earn a home semi-final with surprise semi-finalists Warrington next Saturday.

"We don't expect to be there," said coach Steve McNamara. "There are a lot of good sides in front of us. If we expect things, they won't happen for us. There is a desire and a passion to get there again. We are the champions and we're a pretty proud bunch. We've got the trophy and someone has got to take it off us."

He added: "It's the same route now that Warrington have beaten Leeds but I think Warrington, Hull or Saints will have something to say about that. They are three fantastic sides. It's going to be a great finish.

"There is a culture within the club. We lost a lot of players with mountains of Grand Final experience and it's credit to the experienced players still here and the culture of the club that we seem to find our best form.

"We are a long way off yet, this is just one hurdle."

Bradford, who went into the play-offs on the back of an inconsistent season, hit Salford with an early barrage and eventually ran in nine tries.

"I've got to be pleased," said McNamara. "It was important that we started well and from the first kick-off we were on the front foot. We started the game strong and we were pretty fluent throughout."
