Card error costs Francesco Molinari

First-round leader Francesco Molinari has been disqualified from the Irish Open for signing for a wrong score in his second round.

Just two hours after Northern Ireland's Michael Hoey threw himself out of the event on discovering an extra club in his bag the Italian was stunned after failing to spot an error on his card.

Molinari, who broke the County Louth course record with his opening nine-under-par 63, double-bogeyed the 13th hole, but after completing a 73 that should have left him only two off the pace he did not see that the six had been put down for his score at the 12th instead.
