Christie comeback makes Orient's day

13 April 2012

Leyton Orient striker Iyseden Christie said his goal in their 4-1 win at Portsmouth was one of the greatest moments of his career.

Christie capped a fine day for the Third Division side, in one of the round's biggest upsets, coming off the bench to score their fourth goal.

It was an emotional moment for Christie, who missed the previous 15 months with cruciate knee ligament damage.

He said: "It wasn't the most satisfying goal I've ever scored, but it's certainly up there because it's shown me that I can still do it if I need to.

"It's a great day for the club. It's times like this that make it feel worthwhile but I know I've still got some work to do.

"My contract is up at the end of the season but at the moment I just want to concentrate on playing, and playing well."

The game had already been won by the time Christie struck but it crowned a startling secondhalf comeback by Paul Brush's side.

Dean Smith gave First Division Portsmouth a first-half lead with an owngoal, but recovered well by hitting a tremendous freekick straight after the break to level the scores.

Strikers Steve Watts and Wayne Gray added two more, leaving Christie to have the final say.
