Justin Langer unsure over cricketing future

Justin Langer has yet to decide whether to continue playing the game

Justin Langer admits he has yet to make his mind up whether to quit cricket at the end of the season or continue as captain of Somerset.

The former Australia opener has played a central role in helping the Sabres become a major force in Division One of the LV County Championship since retiring from the international game two-and-a-half years ago.

But, although he is still enjoying life in the west country, Langer concedes he has "lots of considerations" when deciding on his future.

"How long will I play for? I am not sure yet", Langer said.

"I can tell you, hand on heart, I am not sure whether or not I come back to Somerset next year.

"There are lots of considerations, my family, and I've got to weigh up whether I am enjoying it, if I still love playing the game.

"At the moment I am. That is the reason I kept on playing after I finished with Test cricket.

"There are two cliches - one is 'you are a long time retired' and the other is 'while I am still enjoying the game, I'll keep playing'.

"I also know that I've got to be enjoying it otherwise I could be at home doing other things."

He added: "I still feel I have got some cricket left in me. I'm still playing well. I'm still enjoying the project that is under way at Somerset.

"From where we were three years ago, to be challenging in all the First Division competitions this season is great and it's a great place to be at the moment.

"I'm really inspired by playing at Somerset and, while that project continues and the motivation is there, there is no reason why I shouldn't keep playing."
