Kevin Pietersen has told England they must pick his Surrey team-mate Jason Roy for their Test side.

Roy, who smashed a half-century in yesterday’s T20 Blast victory over Sussex, has made 68 limited-overs appearances for his country but none in the longer form of the game.

Ahead of Thursday’s day‑night Test against the West Indies, Pietersen has insisted Roy would make England fans “so happy” if given licence to play shots.

“He’s had a rough period — he was dropped and is worrying about his place,” said Pietersen. “But he shouldn’t be worrying about his place —he should be at six in the Test side. He’s got that much talent.”

In a double header at the Oval, Surrey Stars thrashed Yorkshire by eight wickets in the Women’s Kia Super League.
