Malinga hits back at fake injury jibes

Lasith Malinga is upset by reports suggesting he faked injury so he could avoid Sri Lanka's three Tests in England this summer and play in the lucrative IPL.

The fast bowler pulled out of the Tests, which start next month, saying a surgeon told him his knee would not stand up to long periods in the field.

With Malinga continuing to play in the Twenty20 IPL for Mumbai Indians, Sri Lanka selector Duleep Mendi branded the situation "awkward".

But Malinga said: "Reports insinuating that I might be feigning an injury were very upsetting."
