Matt Prior has signed to play for the DEC Bushrangers for the upcoming KFC Twenty20 Big Bash series.
The England wicket-keeper will be team-mates at the Victoria side with Peter Siddle, with whom he was involved in a heated exchange after the Australian dismissed him in the first innings of the last Test in Perth.
Prior chose to join the Bushrangers after being left out of the squad for the one-day matches against Australia.
He will join the team at the conclusion of the fifth Ashes Test in Sydney on January 9 and will be available to play against Tasmania in Hobart on January 11 and for the remainder of the tournament.
"I was made aware of the Bushrangers needing a second overseas player a few weeks ago, I was really keen to join the team and be a part of the Big Bash competition," Prior said on www.bushrangers.com.au.
"The Big Bash looks like one of the best Twenty20 competitions in the world right now, the way it's promoted and advertised you can tell everyone in Australia is really excited about it."
The 28-year-old will play as a specialist batsman for the Bushrangers.
"I won't be keeping in this competition, so playing as a batsman, hopefully I can bring a lot of runs to the side," he said.
"I'm not sure exactly where I'll bat but I think it will be in the top six. Be it at the top of the order or in the middle I don't really mind, I'm happy to play any position, whatever suits the balance of the team.
"I know the grounds in Australia hold such big crowds, I think it's going to be an amazing experience and I'm really looking forward to it."
The Bushrangers have also signed West Indies star Dwayne Bravo.
Bravo has signed for their first five matches of the tournament before returning to his own domestic Twenty20 competition in the West Indies.
