Dichio calls for change

Danny Dichio believes players should be able to appeal against red cards to prevent others suffering a repeat of his FA Cup final heartache.

The Millwall striker misses Saturday's big clash through suspension following last month's sending-off against Nottingham Forest and is unhappy he was denied the right of appeal.

Dichio is adamant that he did nothing wrong in a off-the-ball clash and is still angry at referee Brian Curson's refusal to review his decision.

He said: "Something has to be done so that players do not have to go through the heartache I will suffer this weekend. Something has to be done so that one person is not making these decisions.

"I've had lots of letters, including one from Forest manager Joe Kinnear, saying it was harsh. I want to be on the pitch and would be but for a stupid referee's mistake."

Dichio will travel with the squad to Cardiff today despite his suspension and plans to act as the team's chief cheerleader.

He added: "My new goal is looking forward to Europe next season. That will be my Cup Final."

Dennis Wise's son could be the star of the FA Cup Final for a second time.

Five-year-old Henry, who will lead his dad's team out at the Millennium Stadium, was in Wise's arms when he held aloft the trophy after winning it with Chelsea four years ago.
