Double joy for Kiwi all-rounder

13 April 2012

Scott Styris had extra reason to celebrate as New Zealand claimed their first Test series victory in the West Indies when rain forced the abandonment of the second match in Grenada.

On a slow final day, when a draw always seemed likely, the players went off three times because of downpours.

But all-rounder Styris still had time to become only the 10th player to score a century and halfcentury on his Test debut.

He followed a first innings 107 with 69 not out as the Kiwis finished the match on 256 for five, with an overall lead of 239.

They won the first Test in Bridgetown by 204 runs.
