Dowie's happy to toast Jol

14 April 2012

Iain Dowie is ready to have a beer with Martin Jol after they ended their war of words.

The Crystal Palace manager takes his team to White Hart Lane on 28 December for what had threatened to become a frosty showdown after the pair became embroiled in a slanging match.

But a call from Jol to Dowie has ended the row, which started with the latter criticising Jol's tactics when he was a television pundit four weeks ago. The Dutchman responded by saying Dowie was not fit to tie his laces.

Dowie said: "I have spoken to Martin. It's not a problem. He feels he was misquoted and it rumbled and rumbled. We're fine.

"I have always had respect for him as a coach. That will continue. I look forward to sharing a lager with him."
